ABOUT US
Fresh Ghost came about after our first book collaboration on Burn The Ice. Our complementary strengths and experience, honed over a combined 30 years in journalism and publishing, have since led to nonfiction proposals that have sold in the high six-figures, award-winning novels and nonfiction, and screenwriting and TV series development.
For our work, we’ve won everything from James Beards to national literary and journalism awards. Our work has appeared on New York Times and Los Angeles Times Bestseller Lists, in Vanity Fair, New York Magazine, Esquire, Elle, New Republic, and The Boston Globe.
We are represented by Aevitas Creative Management and Grandview/Untitled.
THE DEEP CUTS:
Alessandra Lusardi has been an independent editor and writing collaborator since 2015. She has developed seeds of ideas into proposals that have sold in major auctions, rescued chaotic manuscripts that have gone on to be bestsellers, and cowritten novels and screenplays. Before that she spent ten years at Viking Penguin, where she edited and acquired bestselling and award-winning titles in narrative journalism, memoir, food/travel, music, cultural histories, and popular science, as well as novels in translation from Italian and French, languages she speaks fluently.
Alessandra was born in The Bronx to parents who immigrated from Italy, and grew up spending summers there with family. She graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Sociology and American Studies and lives in New York with her husband and two kids.
Kevin Alexander is the James Beard award-winning author of Burn The Ice: The American Culinary Revolution and its End (Penguin Press, 2019). Before moving primarily into books, he was a magazine journalist for 15 years, during which time he did everything: from eating 330 burgers in 30 cities as Thrillist’s “national burger critic”; to covering the US Men’s National Team in the World Cup for the New Republic; to ghostwriting Charles Barkley’s March Madness college basketball blog for TNT.
Kevin holds an MS in Narrative Journalism from Boston University, an MFA in Creative Writing with a fiction focus from Emerson College, and is a recipient of the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Award. He was born in Texas, moved to Boston in middle school, and now lives with his wife and three kids in Northern California.
